Although you won't be able to see most of them, major enhancements to the underlying structure and function of the software have made QuickBooks 2010/11 more stable, more secure, and more flexible than ever. Some of the key improvements are outlined below.
A new QuickBooks SQL database provides enhanced stability, and can scale with a business as it grows. This powerful, industry-standard SQL (Structured Query Language) database uses client-server technology in multi-user mode to coordinate and manage access to the company file. The SQL database is created during installation and managed by QuickBooks, so you will realise the benefits without even needing to know it's there.
A new location for company and sample files means you no longer require Administrator access to work with QuickBooks.
The audit trail is always on in QuickBooks 2010/11 (The audit trail is switched on when a company file is upgraded). All the additions, deletions, and modifications made to transactions in your data file are automatically tracked. This ensures that an accurate record of your data is maintained.
The QuickBooks 2010/11 Homepage Customisation feature gives you the ability to manage confidential account balances as well as identify company files and users by customizing your homepage.
Controlling access to your confidential account balances is easy with the new Hide/Show preference. Simply switch your Account Balance previews to ‘Off’ to ensure only you are the only one who can access account balances.
Quickly and easily identify multiple company files and users by selecting different colours for your homepage. Helping to ensure users work on the right company file, your business can take advantage of increased efficiency and accuracy.
You can now select from 28 Chart of Accounts, meaning setting up and managing your company file is as easy as possible. A localised Chart of Accounts tailored to your specific industry improves data integrity and strengthens business management.
